As reported in today's K-Tipp, Migros, Denner, Spar and Volgab want to do without any declaration of the Hors-Sol products in question in 2017. So I would like to know whether I am buying an artificial tomato. Otherwise I'll unfortunately have to go to Coop, Lidl, Manor or Globus, because they continue to declare them.

I don't know which K-tipp you have, but yesterday's article says, among other things
K-tipp hasn't received this many letters from readers for a long time. The reason for this was the decision by Migros and Coop to no longer declare Hors-Sol vegetables and fruit from 2017. Encouragingly, Coop has changed its mind.
Coop, Lidl, Manor and Globus declare The protests are now having an effect: Coop has reconsidered its decision. Spokeswoman Andrea Bergmann: "For reasons of transparency towards our customers, Coop will continue to declare Hors-Sol vegetables, even if there are some arguments in favor of not declaring them." Migros, on the other hand, is sticking to its decision. Denner, Spar and Volg also want to abolish the declaration at the beginning of the year, but Coop's U-turn will not change this. Migros spokesperson Christine Gaillet: "If someone wants to do without Hors-Sol products, they can buy organic products. Organic farmers are not allowed to produce independently of the soil." The good news is that Lidl, Manor and Globus are not taking part in the concerted campaign by other major distributors. They clearly state that the declaration was made at the request of customers. That is why it will be retained. Globus spokesperson Marcela Palek explains: "Our vegetable suppliers must inform us whether vegetables or fruit come from Hors-Sol cultivation." Correct and also, if I read the article p. 8/9 correctly, there should be more products at Coop without harmful (e)additives. Which would be another plus.

The Association of Swiss Vegetable Producers promotes hors-sol cultivation as "ecologically particularly sensible". Soil and water are conserved. In addition, fewer pesticides would have to be used.
Bernhard Schmid, Professor of Environmental Sciences at the University of Zurich, counters this:
"Preferring hors-sol for ecological reasons is a suggestion that was probably made without an environmental impact analysis."
Martin Koller does not consider Hors-sol to be more environmentally friendly either. This is because it requires significantly more energy. Koller also points to health aspects:
"Studies show that organic tomatoes contain more secondary plant substances such as polyphenols." These are considered particularly healthy.
