Homemade breads repackaged - nutritional information

Hausgemachte Brote neu verpackt - Nährwertangaben

Hi

Has the nutritional information on the new bread packaging somehow been consistently wrong? The breads suddenly have far fewer calories than before ⁉️

Hello soup plate

Which breads do you mean exactly? Thank you for your information and best regards,

Cristina

Dear Cristina
I mean everyone who has received the new packaging, Sonnenkranz, Krustenkranz, St. Galler and so on.

Perhaps only the Eastern Switzerland cooperative is affected?

I'll get back to you.

Hello soup plate

Thank you very much for your valuable advice. We followed up on it and realized that we had indeed made a mistake. In the new white bread bags that we use for the 30 or so breads from our own in-house bakeries, we have labeled nutritional values that are all slightly below the correct values. This error occurred because we used the weight of the dough and not the lower weight of the baked bread as the basis for calculation (water loss during baking). We very much regret this error and will correct the information when we reprint the bread bags in the near future. We will order these reprints immediately so that we can display correct nutritional information on all our bread bags in a few weeks' time.

Kind regards, Cristina

Thanks for the answer, too bad the breads haven't suddenly become lower in calories?

The packaging is very pretty, suspiciously similar to that of Coop, but never mind. In any case, one disadvantage is that it's harder to tell what grind they have. It was super easy before with the colors. Can this be simplified again?

Dear Karin

I'd be happy to clarify this for you. Do you also shop in Eastern Switzerland? Best regards, Cristina

Our experts at Migros Ostschweiz have explained it to me: The degree of grinding of the bread is now marked with a colored stripe on the left-hand side of the bag.

The back of the bag shows exactly what this means for this bread.

e.g. brownish/red stripe on the side > text on the back: This bread is made from dark flour (= medium degree of fineness).

The position of this stripe is changed slightly when the bag is reprinted, but it remains on the side and, in our opinion, provides the customer with a good orientation aid. It is true, however, that it is no longer as prominent - but the customer can now see the bread much better J.

Regarding 'Looks like Coop': The Migros Basel cooperative has been using this FRESH&HANDMADE concept for some time now. The Cooperative Eastern Switzerland has therefore not copied Coop, but adopted the concept of the Cooperative Migros Basel :)

Kind regards,

Cristina
