We always have the fine "M-Classic Carolina dry rice" in stock. Unfortunately, there are now a few packs too many and the best-before date is about to expire. Question: How long can this rice be eaten after the expiry date? The rice is stored in a dry, cool and dark place.

As long as there are no critters in it, you can safely keep it for a year or more.
If the rice has been stored properly, it still looks like rice, it doesn't smell funny when you open the packet and the grains of rice don't move, then it is certainly still edible.
It's about the same with pasta, oatmeal, etc. I've often eaten a packet after the best-before date and I'm still alive ;)

Generally speaking, a best-before date is printed on the product, not an expiry date. Very few things go bad at that exact moment. That's why we all often throw away too much food. The best thing to do is open the packet, smell it and try it. Our tongue and nose tell us immediately when something is no longer edible (tastes bitter, sour or like yeast).
I am careful with meat and fruit yogurts. Chocolate yogurts, for example, can easily be kept for a week longer than stated.
