Hey Migros, have you taken leave of your senses that the Gurmessa stand in Arlesheim has switched to self-service with plastic trays? Until now, cardboard packaging has been used, which we have of course recycled at Karton. You want to improve packaging and get away from plastic !!!!
Incidentally, we don't like this kind of self-service without staff at all. Unfortunately, it is becoming more and more impersonal, the previous advantage of Migros is dwindling and shopping centers are becoming more and more interchangeable!
We miss the friendly staff who lovingly and neatly pack the bread rolls and chicken. Instead, an impersonal high shelf awaits us like a wall in front of the staff.
This change is and remains a bad idea on the part of the store planners

@Antony33Thechangeover from service to self-service in Arlesheim has clearly shown us in the past that waiting times have been greatly reduced, but of course we are not aiming to reduce staff costs: our employees are still available to us, but they are increasingly being used to make sandwiches and chicken on site.
Of course, we also want to reduce plastic. For this reason, we have already found a solution for new "chicken paper packaging". We are still looking for a suitable alternative for bread rolls and cakes. For reasons of hygiene, however, pure cardboard packaging is unfortunately not possible, as our customers and our employees at the checkouts must be able to see the goods when paying.

I am not at all satisfied with the answer.
1. until now, the cardboard packaging was apparently always OK for hygienic reasons. Incidentally, it is still being used at M-Park Münchenstein. This means that much more plastic is now being used.
2. the so-called new chicken packaging is garbage! It is not leak-proof, which means that chicken juice leaks out and soils the bags. In addition, it does not insulate, which means that the chicken is cold at home.
3) I have hardly ever experienced long waiting times, although I often shop over lunchtime. It's mostly schoolchildren and employees who pick up something to eat shortly after 12 o'clock.

So in general it's a clear deterioration. I'm just glad that you're keeping the employees. We're often glad of their help.
By the way, I really hate the scanning tills, even though I work with Compis. I prefer to wait and see familiar and friendly Migros employees at the conventional checkout. !!!!!!!!!
