For some time now, we have been listening to an audio message when shopping in Migros that advises us not to shop in the "Grosser Kanton", i.e. Germany. The term "Grosser Kanton" for Germany was used in a xenophobic sense as early as the 19th century in connection with the immigration of Germans to Switzerland. Due to the experiences of the Second World War, it was further charged with resentment. Today, and especially in the Basel region, this resentment no longer has any place. It is difficult to understand why Migros does not check its advertising slogans for verbal slurs of this kind.

Migros seems to be most worried about its sales; since you can go shopping in Germany again without major restrictions due to Corona (https://www.bluewin.ch/de/news/schweiz/das-musst-du-wissen-wenn-du-in-deutschland-einkaufen-willst-708784.html), sales are slowly but surely continuing to go downhill, because more and more customers are storming the (cheap) stores in Germany again... (which is totally understandable when you see the price comparisons, e.g. Nivea etc. (https://www.srf.ch/sendungen/kassensturz-espresso/hochpreisinsel-schweiz-wir-werden-abgezockt) There was already a similar debate about the Dubler Mohrenkopf... The basic problem is indeed the high prices in Switzerland. And instead of insulting a neighboring country and its inhabitants with disparaging terms, the major distributors would do well to use their power to put an end to the absurd price situation in Switzerland - or perhaps they have no interest in doing so?

I strongly assume that they have no interest in this. The high-price island of Switzerland is being artificially kept high, and the politicians are helping out; in the end, the consumers are - as is usually the case - the stupid ones... Unfortunately...

...you don't have to assume that, that was/is and will remain so as long as we all accept the prices as given and don't defend ourselves against them, I think we all realize that the prices in Germany are not 1 to 1, but it simply must no longer be the case that we have to pay twice to 4 times or even more for the same article, here is just one example of many that has never changed Perwoll 1.5 L. bottle in Germany 3 to 4 euros, Coop 10 to 12 francs. bottle in Germany 3 to 4 euros, Coop 10 to 12 francs, that is no longer justified but pure rip-off for me.
