I can recommend Simply V sprinkled cheese as a ready-made product for gratinated dishes such as lasagne or gratins. I personally like it best of all and it melts very well. Otherwise, I often use yeast flakes, which taste quite cheesy. Another tip would be miso paste, which I also like to use (also in combination with the yeast flakes).

Hello :) I just saw the question. I am new to this forum. Maybe this is interesting for other people. If you buy grated cheese (e.g. for pizza or something) it actually tastes quite good. It's very similar to actual cheese, and you can use yeast flakes for cheese flavor. You might not like it at first, but you'll get used to it over time. There are many recipes for making cashew cheese at home, especially for mac & cheese or something similar. Tapioca starch is better than cornstarch because tapioca starch really makes the texture similar to melted cheese.

The yeast flakes sound exciting, I'll give them a try, thanks for the tip (I'm not vegan, I just give up meat and animal products during the week to reduce and appreciate them more).
By reducing your consumption of animal products, you are still making a big difference. Many friends of mine do the same, because not everyone can or wants to give up meat so quickly :)
Unfortunately, the "cheese substitutes" are usually very bland and slimy... Except for the "Reibgenuss mit Lupinen", which is currently available in Migros, which is also good. Yeast flakes are great, but don't overdo it with the quantity either... But I also add flavor to cheesy things mainly with hearty spices - pepper, rosemary, thyme etc. very finely ground. Salt is also simply indispensable here (if you consider how much salt is in most cheeses.... it's a lot). There is "nut mesan" in the Coop, which I also like to use as pasta topping (it also contains a lot of salt, so you should take this into account when seasoning). You can also mix it yourself from finely ground white almonds (sometimes with mixed pumpkin seeds), yeast flakes and salt. You can also look forward to lots of great things from the New Roots company, they are aiming to "reform" cheese ;-)

I can recommend the chunk cheese from Veganz: I was so impressed by its taste that I gave it the Vegan Food Award 2020 in the best cheese alternative category. Unfortunately, I only bought the product in Germany. I'm not sure if you can also get it at Migros.
Do any of you know the "New Roots"? Would like to try one which would be the "tastiest"?
Yes, I like to treat myself to "Camembert" from time to time. I find it very, very tasty. Apart from that, I haven't tried anything else from New Roots apart from the garlic spread.
