I don't quite understand why you are now criticizing or doubting this in this context. Because the one has nothing to do with the other. 20 Minuten article. Much has already been said, I could simply repeat myself. What was unfortunately not mentioned in the article is the following: These animals were not bred or killed for their fur. The fur is a leftover because the meat was utilized. Otherwise the fur would probably just be thrown away. So it is still used. That's not to say that it's okay per se to produce, sell, own or use fur products. But let's leave aside the fact that we are the big bad Migros that wants to sugarcoat everything (that's how I think you see us). Isn't it not so bad if something that would otherwise end up as waste is still being used? Nevertheless, and that's what the article says: They will look to ensure that no more such items are sold in the future. Unfortunately, I can't promise you anything definitive at this point. I would like to, because I personally think it should be possible without it. However, many people seem to buy such products. What I can say with certainty is that we are collecting customer feedback on all channels and that the issue is being addressed. And I would still like to emphasize once again that our suppliers have to comply with various standards, that independent checks are carried out and that Made in India does not mean that conditions are like the Stone Age. Counter question @Nina_Migros was someone from the team in India on site and saw how the skins are processed? They are chemically treated, it cannot be denied that workers from the lowest castes stand with bare feet in the lye. Has it been checked, eye to eye, what the situation is like? I would be very interested to know.

But we do have an office in India, I don't know if you know that. The people there also visit our suppliers. I really can't say exactly who goes there and when. But I can understand your thoughts on this question very well, I've had similar thoughts myself. And I would welcome more information on this. Perhaps this matter will trigger something like that. Only if we then ran a report on production facilities in India in Migros magazine. Would people believe it? Or would they think we were glossing over something? Because people don't really believe the labels and standards and contracts and controls either. Of course, paper is patient, templates are all well and good. I feel the same way, I'm particularly critical when I read Made in India on a product like this. And you can and should be critical. But you have to be able to trust something somewhere. There can't always be someone standing next to a production facility or manufacturer checking every step. And even if someone were standing there, do we believe this person when they say that everything is OK? I know that the circumstances in India are different to those in other countries. I have perhaps deliberately exaggerated this a little with all the questions and considerations. I simply want to say that we are certainly doing everything we can to ensure that neither people nor animals are harmed. (Yes, I know, this is about a dead animal, but you know what I mean...) So that companies don't exploit their workers. And that there are also companies in such countries that are decent. Everyone can decide whether they prefer to use the comfortable bags, or perhaps buy the available textile bags once?!!! The fact that cheap animal skins from "somewhere" cause severe environmental damage, child labor, and general damage to the environment and health of ALL those involved (including us consumers) should be well known by now, even to less well-informed consumers, and are caused by people who buy them despite knowing better! To reassure you: Quality always prevails over time!

@Nina_Migros that's absolutely true, trust has to start somewhere but pictures that are not embellished together with a report are a basis for this. I'm not naive, but I'm also not an aluminium hat wearer who suspects fake news everywhere. And no, not everything is just exploitation "in such countries" (I assume there is no insinuation that you think disparagingly of India because you express concerns) the same applies to the Cucina Tavola series from China. You just hear things, things are uncovered that make you suspicious and leave a bad taste in your mouth. my point is that migros plays holy but in the end is just profit-oriented. i personally think it's cheeky that i have to pay for bags and parking when i go shopping. that's just part of a premium brand. or are we supposed to pay for the elevator, the shopping cart and a service fee when we pay at a manned checkout?
