I always get annoyed with Pancho Villa's range of fajitas. I was on exchange in London one year where I found flatbreads (good ones) from the supermarket's own brand. There a pack of 8 cost £1.20 which is about 1.80 CHF. This is about 3-4 times cheaper than the Migros flatbreads, which I checked are imported from Spain (!). I assume that it is within Jowa's competence to produce the simplest flatbreads at reasonable prices and to package them in a standard product (M-Classic?). The demand is certainly high, as it can be used for a wide variety of current dishes. (Fajita, kebab, mezze,...)

So, I have spoken to the product manager. The situation is as follows: Pancho Villa tortillas are a third-party brand, which means that we at Migros have no influence on the pricing. Compared to the UK, our purchasing volume is also much smaller. This in turn means that our own purchase price is higher than the English retail price.

Unfortunately, having the tortillas produced by Jowa is not an option either: this would mean purchasing a special, expensive production machine and working out the corresponding processes. As the quantity required by Migros is not too large, this is unfortunately not worthwhile.

As an alternative to the Pancho Villa products, I can recommend our Turkish flatbread. The flatbreads are slightly larger and the 100g price is lower :)

I am convinced that it would sell more than most types of bread (which obviously also require an expensive production machine, as production is much more complicated) and would therefore easily make up for the purchase costs. I am also convinced that sales would be significantly higher if the costs were to fall slightly.
