Today I treated myself to the luxury (Migros Ostschweiz) of Swiss strawberries ? and was very disappointed ? they had no flavor and were bland so without any sweetness ?
No wonder. With the cold, wet weather at the end of May, how were the strawberries supposed to get any sweetness? That should change in the next two weeks (assuming they don't get spoiled). But then there probably won't be any more action if the quality is right...
If I've learned anything in the last few years, it's this: Hands off promotions on Swiss fruit (strawberries, apricots, plums, cherries) no matter which supplier. Always the same disappointment, as the quality is usually inferior after periods of bad weather.
I can understand your disappointment! But we were absolutely lucky! We also bought Swiss strawberries! But with a super flavor and great sweetness, simply great strawberries? However, we get the strawberries directly from the farmer from the farm store or from the stand directly at the strawberry field! That way you really know where the berries come from. Sometimes you have to pay a little more, but it's worth it!
Hello tiger cat when you smell them, you can tell immediately whether the strawberries are sweet and tasty or not.

We just bought Swiss strawberries yesterday and I also smelled them beforehand and think they are very good. As Imperator has already written, we usually buy them from the farmer and often pay more than in the store.
"when you smell it, you can tell immediately whether the strawberries are sweet and tasty or not."
That's a good one :) The fact that you can simply make strawberries smell good is really old hat. I don't mean to explicitly accuse Migros of using this method.
I can't confirm that. I have already bought a few trays of Swiss strawberries in Migros, in 500 gram trays at the special price of CHF 3.90. That was last week.
On Sunday I bought strawberries again in Migrolino, again at CHF 3.90. But something bothered me, when I got home I saw that instead of 500 grams there were only 250 grams packed. Almost a kilo price of 16 francs. That's too much, you can buy these strawberries for less than CHF 8.00 from the farmer or farm store. I would have bought them from the farmer too, but I always missed out.
