I read in an article that a family no longer shops at Migros because they do "Mania" campaigns. They now go to Germany even more, they say. I keep asking myself whether these people are actually aware of how jobs are created. The article also says that retailers are complaining again because so many people are going to Germany to shop. But it's also the case that employees then moan again when there are lower wages or people are made redundant. Maybe you should think about it: if there are no customers, you don't need employees! I don't even know how anyone could come up with the idea of going shopping in Germany for a business idea like Dinomania etc. That's really ridiculous. That's really ridiculous. Why is everyone talking about Migros? At Coop there is the Trophy, at Volg the Rabattmärkli, at Globus a bonus card, etc. And at Migros there's the Cumulus card where you also get an indirect price reduction! So what's the problem?
Everyone is just trying to get to people somehow and Migros is obviously successful with it, otherwise they wouldn't keep doing it!
By the way, if you watch TV you've probably seen the REWE adverts, there's also a collection campaign there, my friend at EDKA also told me about it and when we were on a skiing vacation in Austria last year, there was a picture collection campaign at Spar together with WWF. So you shouldn't be shopping in Germany or Austria either!

I think what bothers some people about the Animanca campaigns is in particular the contradiction between the business policy propagated by Migros with regard to sustainability on the one hand and the use of resources in specific cases on the other. This can hardly be completely dismissed in some Animanca campaigns, even if I would never take such a fundamentalist position on this as in some of the contributions.
What I find more disturbing are the insistent appeals to consumers from the business community to refrain from buying abroad so that jobs can be preserved in Switzerland. These appeals come from the very same economy that never misses an opportunity to cut costs by awarding contracts and relocating operations abroad, thereby destroying jobs in Switzerland. Again, I am by no means advocating shopping tourism, but appeals must be credible if they are to have any chance of being heard.

whining on both sides. as if we had no other worries in this world. in some countries there is not even a tenth of it in the stores, people have to walk for miles to even get food and water, and there will certainly be no discount stamps and famigros clubs ....
Unfortunately, I don't quite share Sirio's opinion. You have to think about why costs have to be cut. It is the consumer who is no longer prepared to pay the price for good quality. There are cheap stores that advertise T-shirts for SFr. 2 and you're supposed to expect them to be produced in Switzerland? That would be completely impossible. But as long as the demand for these cheap products is there, the manufacturer will continue to produce cheaply abroad. The fact that people are not prepared to pay the Swiss price is shown by the development of purchases abroad. Why is Switzerland expensive, as already mentioned, higher wages, higher rents, transportation, etc.?

jami, i agree. it's just extremely difficult to estimate how time-consuming and expensive "production" really is, unless you come from the industry. how time-consuming it is to produce an egg or a bag of potatoes, a shoe or a dress. just as little as how much is manual labor and how much is produced by machines that can produce tens of hundreds per minute (but also have to be produced themselves first).
Well, what more can you say. The economy is relocating production abroad on the grounds that consumers are not prepared to pay higher prices, and consumers are relocating their purchases abroad on the grounds that the economy is not prepared to sell cheaper...
