Why, dear Migros, do they only sell sliced canned mushrooms from China?
For a while, I still bought them from Spain. But since all the mushrooms "de Paris" come from China, I no longer buy your tins. It's been so long now that I don't think it's seasonal anymore. Mushrooms are not seasonal anyway. I haven't seen any whole ones from China either, your competitors at least have them from the Netherlands - but no sliced ones either.
Can you please explain that to me?

As a Swiss company, we source as much food as possible from Switzerland and, as a second priority, from Europe. Products from overseas, such as China, round off the range.
We are constantly optimizing our range so that our customers can shop at Migros with a clear conscience.
Although Migros only procures a very small proportion of its food requirements from China, Migros is aware of the risks involved in procurement and acts accordingly carefully:

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, it sounds far too general for me and does not address my question. It sounds more like a standard answer to questions about Chinese products. I am happy to do without products from the Far East that are supposed to "round off" the range.
The fact is that mushrooms are very easy to grow, you could even do it in Switzerland... It would probably even be more expensive to process canned mushrooms in Switzerland than to grow them. But surely your Bischofszell factory should have the necessary facilities?
Be that as it may. I don't buy any food (and as few other products as possible) that comes from China. So I have to come to terms with the fact that I can no longer round off sauces with canned mushrooms. That's a great pity.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to cover the demand in Switzerland with the available quantity of Swiss cultivated mushrooms. In addition, these mushrooms are generally intended for fresh consumption. If you would like to enjoy mushrooms from European cultivation, you can switch to organic M-Classic mushrooms, which come from Germany.
In order to reduce the environmental impact of imported products to a minimum, they are processed and packaged in China and then usually shipped to Europe. Various life cycle assessments show that the energy required in the manufacturing process has the greatest impact on the environment. The CO2 emissions caused by shipping in modern container ships are usually negligible.
Migros also promotes products 'From the region - for the region', which is exactly the direction you are aiming for. With the TerraSuisse label, Migros also guarantees production in Switzerland, which is also particularly sustainable for people, animals and the environment.
Our range is constantly evolving, but this naturally takes time. It is very important to us that you and all our customers can shop at Migros with a clear conscience.
