I often drink cold caffe lattes in summer when I'm in a hurry, and I also like the own brand. However, I end up with quite a few cups. I recently asked myself whether these can also be recycled and put in the pet? I haven't dared yet. But it would be a good thing, just like the grape and berry packaging.
I think you can dispose of these coffee cups with the plastic milk bottles (the "lid" under the plastic lid is aluminum), or maybe with the "normal" plastic waste? To be honest, I'm not sure either, I've disposed of them in the normal household waste so far because I'm not 100% sure... In my opinion they are not PET, but I would have to take a closer look at these packs the next time I buy them... So it would be super helpful if someone from the M-Infoline could clarify this and let us know, then we would know exactly ;-)

I would also think it would be a good thing if they could be recycled, just like the plastic berry packaging.

These cups cannot be added to our recycling. Our plastic collection is limited to resealable plastic bottles. With this collection, Migros is aiming for a plastic collection that is as pure as possible (made of polyethylene) and contains as little foreign matter (other types of plastic) as possible. This is the only way to recycle the collected plastic, close material cycles and ultimately protect the environment, which is Migros' aim.
Other plastic packaging such as cups, trays, tubes, refill bags or jars often consist of composite materials (different types of plastic), which would contaminate the collection of recyclable materials too much, so that the collected material could ultimately no longer be recycled and would still have to end up in the waste incineration plant. This packaging must therefore continue to be disposed of with household waste.
The second very important reason for the restriction to plastic bottles is the reclosability of these containers. This allows the hygiene and odor requirements in the stores to be taken into account.
PET drinks bottles will continue to be collected separately. As the PET recyclate is reused in food bottles, the quality requirements for this collection are particularly high.
Which plastic bottles does Migros take back?
Plastic bottles from
- dairy products
- Detergents and cleaning agents (also with spray head)
- Shampoo and shower gels, creams, lotions, baby products
- Vinegar, oil, sauces
- Fertilizer
- Other food bottles
The following plastic packaging will NOT be taken back:
- Plastic bottles from the DIY, car and garden sectors
- Tetra Pak and other beverage carton packaging (consists of approx. 70% cardboard)
- Other plastic packaging such as cups, trays, bags (incl. refill bags), jars, tubes
