We have been buying suitcases at Migros for many years. Now we need a new one. However, the selection has grown in the meantime and I am overwhelmed.
Suitcases with 4 wheels: You see these a lot now when traveling and it seems they are easier to roll. The disadvantage? I think that sometimes it's not so easy to put them down and they roll away. And, I have the impression that the wheels are weaker. Is that the case?
Suitcase with 2 wheels: That's what we used to have. Sometimes a bit cumbersome.
What is your experience and which model would you recommend? Unfortunately, the suitcase department is usually not staffed and the few sales assistants are busy elsewhere or unfortunately have no idea.

The case with 4 wheels does indeed roll away more easily - but transporting it is much easier. As there are wheels of different quality, it is unfortunately not possible for us to make a general statement in this regard. We ask for your understanding. I also always buy my suitcases at Migros. Apart from the fact that I like to take a good look at the goods without having a sales assistant behind me, the selection is very good and the quality of the suitcases always scores well in tests. What's more, Migros always has a 30% promotion on all luggage. It's worth waiting for this if the purchase is not urgent. In terms of quality, I choose four wheels and textile, not hard shell. Four wheels are actually very convenient, especially if you have to walk long distances, such as in airports and larger train stations. The main disadvantage from my point of view is that suitcases with four wheels take up more space (every centimeter counts in the cramped conditions on intercity trains), but I accept that as well as the risk of the suitcase rolling away (if necessary, I just put it down horizontally), and I find hard shells impractical when packing and unpacking and when I don't want to empty the suitcase completely during a short stay in a hotel. In addition, the outer compartments are very practical with textile cases.

Thank you very much for your comments. I don't need the case until spring, so I can wait and see if there's another promotion. You're right about the fabric instead of the hard shell. I have already had this experience. The "disadvantage" is that these suitcases break more quickly. Especially on flights, as the suitcases are not transported very gently. I even had to buy a new one after a flight to Darwin. Well, that doesn't happen every day. - You've given me a good argument for possibly buying a suitcase with 4 wheels. The long distances at airports when you have to change gates are a pain. Am I right in thinking that you prefer these suitcases? How is the stability of the smaller wheels? 23 kg or sometimes even 30 kg without any problems? - I have also experienced this with the trains. The SBB doesn't want any luggage. I'm sometimes amazed at how the tourists have to struggle with their suitcases. Not a good advertisement for Switzerland. Not everyone can travel with just a "handbag"....

As already mentioned: I choose four rollers in terms of texture. I would never have had any problems with the latter.
