An example of this: An unpackaged cucumber can no longer be sold after three days. In contrast, 1.5 grams of packaging keeps it fresh for 14 days. Nevertheless, I have trouble with so-called "old vegetable varieties", which used to be available openly and because nobody eats them today.... only as organic - I am referring to the yellow turnips (lat.brassica napus var napobrassica).
In the past, the larger specimens from the garden of about 1 kg were used in the household (simply because they could be kept for months in this size category), the smaller ones were immediately used as animal feed.... today it's the other way round, I see these small units on the organic food shelf, packaged at a retail price of plus/minus 1 Fr./pc If you count the peeling waste, you need 4-5 pieces...why not larger specimens? This turns a "poor man's food" of the past into a luxury item of today ;-)

But what I still don't understand and that's my biggest annoyance is this stupid plastic tray with the 500gr. Organic carrots. Couldn't you leave them out and pack them in the same way as the 2kg organic carrots and thus save a lot of plastic?
