Today I found basil from Kenya, imported by plane, in Migros, 50g for 3.60! This should no longer be the case, especially for items that can be procured closer to home by land in spring. Then at least set the price so high that the climate damage is at least recognizable...

Migros really needs to make an effort with its packaging. The coop is also much further ahead when it comes to open vegetables

All around the world, young and increasingly older people are going on strike to draw attention to the devastating effects of climate change. The loud voices are already on the trail of the causes of all this evil. We here in the forum also pointed out several years ago that large cooperatives such as MIGROS have a certain educational responsibility and a role model function. To deny this and point to the consumer is a very simple strategy. It's a shame, because I think the groups would gain new customer bases in the long term.
Just as the atmosphere in schools is changing (goal: higher education), it is also changing at management level (increasing sales and maximizing profits).

Hello Lieferenedlavere, I clarified this with the responsible specialist department. There is no Swiss basil available at the moment - this will remain the case for a few more weeks at these temperatures. The season in Morocco is coming to an end and the quality is suffering badly. We have therefore switched to basil from Kenya. Goods from Switzerland and the region are our top priority - as soon as basil from Switzerland is available, we will switch again. Kind regards, Luisa
Thanks to this post, I realized that I bought basil from Israel (Coop). I was slightly sour about my own ignorance. I should have just looked carefully and read where the product comes from. Thank you for the important tip. (You can never assume that products always come from the same country, as is usually the case).
