On 31.12.2019, I bought a bunch of bananas with the WWF logo at Migros-Aare in Kirchberg. On the outside, there were no injuries or damage. A day later, I peeled one of them and saw that the upper part was mushy brown and had a number of holes similar to passages. Off it went into the organic waste bin, the second banana the same as the first. Logically, I didn't feel like eating any more bananas, so I disposed of all the others in an environmentally friendly manner. But I ask myself, what is the point of sustainable production if I have to dispose of such products immediately after buying them? For me, this means that I will certainly not buy any more products with any label from an environmental organization or GutMenschen label in the future, but I very much regret that there are no more Chiquita or Del Monte bananas on offer at Migros (or anywhere else?). Obviously I have to say goodbye to this product, if there is no longer a market for it, then the producers/small farmers and their families won't be helped either. They will then probably have to grow Erythroxylum coca in order to survive, because unfortunately there is a worldwide need for it.
