I buy Pepsi MAX in 5 dl bottles almost every day and for the last four or five weeks I've been annoyed about the cap, or more precisely about the paint on the screw cap: the paint on the logo crumbles off even with a light touch and you quickly get it on your hands or clothes. Fortunately, the paint doesn't stick there either and can be wiped off without a trace, but it's still annoying.
At first I thought it was just one batch that was affected, but no, all lids have been like this for a few weeks now, whether Migros Aare or Zurich, individually or in packs of six. The lids of the 1.5 l bottles are not affected.
Perhaps an important note: these 5 dl bottles of Pepsi MAX used to be bottled in Hungary, now they are produced in Switzerland like the other Pepsi bottles. I'm pleased about that, but the lid is rather annoying.

I have now received feedback from the production department that the problem with the color on Pepsi lids is not due to the quality of the lids, but to the packaging process with the so-called "sleeve machine". In this process, steam/moisture collects on the lid. This steam does not dry sufficiently during the rest of the production process before the bottles in the 6-pack are wrapped in foil. If the lid and the 6-pack packaging are then in contact for a long time, the printing ink may peel off the lid. To avoid this problem, additional drying processes would have to be installed for the lids to ensure that the lids are 100% dry before the bottles enter the 6-pack packaging machine.
Our experts are currently clarifying whether such a process extension would be feasible and sensible in the longer term. Thank you once again for your feedback and patience, best regards, Tabi

I think the most sensible solution would be not to print on the lids. Pepsi (especially Pepsi MAX in the unusual 0.5 l bottle) is easy to recognize even without looking at the cap from above. Eliminating printing would save one work step, would have less impact on the environment and would solve the problem discussed here.
I'm curious to see what those responsible will decide... In any case, I'll remain loyal to my Pepsi - after all, it's what's in the bottle that counts!
