ATTENTION: Pumpkin Potimarron (bought the night before yesterday)

ACHTUNG: Kürbis Potimarron (vorgestern Abend gekauft)

Dear Migipedians

The day before yesterday evening, my friend bought a Potimarron pumpkin in the Länderpark store in Stans. We cooked it and ate it, even though it was bitter. "You don't throw food away - especially not when you're hungry and really craving this particular pumpkin (which otherwise tastes so delicately sweet)!" was my credo. What followed were: My boyfriend's stomach ache, nausea and severe diarrhea. I still have nausea and stomach pains.

When I finally got around to consulting Google, I was quite shocked: "Never eat bitter gourds (or zucchinis or cucumbers)! How should I know this, especially since I bought the pumpkin in a grocery store? (There is often talk of hobby gardeners and some kind of cross-breeding/mutation in connection with bitter substances in pumpkins etc.. But we bought the pumpkin at Migros.

So be warned: If the pumpkin tastes bitter - hands off & return it depending on Migros' response...

I still have a cooked slice in the fridge. If anyone is interested in examining it. Could be.

Best regards and stay healthy
... Fortunately, our son didn't fancy pumpkin that evening!!!!! No idea how he would have coped with this poisoning.
