This is obviously a topic that many people are very interested in. I asked the FMC years ago and received a direct reply from Denner. It was that it was not planned for various reasons. What a pity. MIGROS (Cumulus) would lose a decisive advantage. You could simply remove alcohol, cigarettes and cigars from Cumulus. And whether there is now a one percent discount on cheaper items than in Migros probably doesn't make much difference. Maybe the customer won't go to Aldi or Lidl.
I have the feeling that Migros is falling further and further behind. It stubbornly sticks to the 10 regional cooperatives. Each one is organized independently. Each has its own regional leader.
LIDL and ALDI are growing unchecked and are constantly becoming more Swiss. Coop has been growing faster than Migros every year for years, even though it is significantly more expensive. What is going wrong here? Quo Vadis Migros.
As a former member of the Cooperative Council, I am already concerned about this.
