Out of season and unripe = OK.
But I order them regularly in winter to make tomato pies. They work well because they don't get soggy on cake batter. They have minimal flavor, but you can spice them up a bit (salt, pepper, herbes de Provence) before baking them for 35 minutes at 200 degrees.
Flavor guaranteed with unripe tomatoes....

The "Extra" tomatoes usually impress with their intense flavor, even in winter. They are juicy and ideal for salads. The only drawback is that the skin is sometimes a little tough or they ripen quickly.
