What are Migros and Coop's historical roots?

Can someone provide in-depth information about the historical roots and development of the prominent Swiss supermarket cooperatives, Migros and Coop, tracing their origins back to the 19th century or earlier? I am particularly interested in understanding the historical context that led to the establishment of these cooperatives, the key figures involved, and how they have evolved over time to become major players in the Swiss retail industry. Additionally, insights into the cooperative principles, economic conditions, and societal factors that shaped their formation and growth would be greatly appreciated.

Look up Gottfried Duttweiler (a.k.a. 'Dutti'), he was the founder of the Migros cooperative, starting out with modified trucks delivering goods to remote locations in the alps in 1926 (both north and south), cutting prices by leaving out retailers. His trucks faced hostile acts by local business owners (butchers, bakery etc) out of fear of financial loss. he was also ghosted by producers, so he started to make a lot of products by Migros itself, usually satirizing brand names (most notable case that got into litigation: Cafe Zaun (migros), a copy of Cafe Hag (Nestle), Zaun and hag are both synonyms of 'garden fence'), he was a supporter of the suffraget movement, therefore migros does not sell alcohol or tobacco (he was also a supporter of womens rights. Since Migros is a cooperative, they had a lot of cash at hand (no stakeholders to pay out), so they endeavored into other ventures: Migrol Gas stations, Hotelplan Travel agency, Migros Klubschule, Migros kulturprozent, Migros Bank, to name a few... they were also the first to sell cheap watches from MONDAINE (The M-Watch, displayed next to the bananas in Migros shops) in 1983, shortly before the iconic Swatch watch came to market. very innovative guy, Dutti!
