New search function on Migipedia
Philipp_Migros
Yes, we've done it! In complete secrecy, we've integrated a new search function into the Migipedia web page navigator. Since December 2021, we've also been monitoring your satisfaction with Migipedia via the feedback form. One comment that we constantly receive is about the current search function, which we call "browsing". Many of you aren't happy with it. We know it isn't really good enough. For example, if you search for the keyword "salmon" while "browsing", the first result is "cat food".
Sure, it's theoretically possible that you were interested in cat food with salmon. But we suspect you were probably expecting a different result. And what about community posts? These couldn't be searched for up to now. One exception is the forum, which has its own rudimentary search function.
That was reason enough for us to finally address the issue of searching. When you click on the search field in the website navigator, the search function opens with the preview function. If you type in a search term, you can already see the first results appear below the text field. If the desired result is not included in the preview, all you need to do is click on "Show all results" or press Return on your keyboard to pull up the full list. This takes you to a results page that divides the search results into "Products," "Community posts," "Migipedia web pages" and "Community members."
Different sources for search results
We use a variety of sources to show you all the different Migipedia content on the search results page. The search results for community posts come from the Migipedia database and are updated immediately. This means that a new product rating, for example, can be located via the search function as soon as it is sent.
New page content is regularly integrated into the search function. If there's a new product test, it can also be found using the search function. For product searches, we've joined forces with Migros.ch. Instead of developing our own product search function, we use that of Migros.ch, and can thus benefit from ongoing optimizations there. However, there is one difference: On Migipedia, you'll only find the products on sale at Migros stores. Products that can only be ordered via Migros.ch are currently still excluded, at least for the time being.
Satisfied with the new search function?
The new placement of the navigation automatically gives the search function a more central role than before. "Browsing" on Migipedia will thus soon be a thing of the past.
For us, it's important that you can actually find what you're looking for. For this reason, after every search, you can take part in our short poll right at the bottom of the results page to say whether or not you're satisfied with the search results. You can also tell us what we could improve. Please take advantage of this opportunity so that we can keep making our search function better.
All the best,
Philipp

Since this information is from 6 months ago, it's possible the new search function on Migipedia has already been implemented and might have changed.
Migipedia was planning or had recently implemented a new search function.
Philipp_Migros, a moderator, posted the information. This suggests the new search function was an official announcement and not mere speculation.
Check the Migipedia website for any announcements or documentation related to the new search function. They might have a blog post, help section update, or user guides explaining the new functionalities.
