i am without animal testing

i am ohne Tierversuche

Unfortunately, I can't quite figure it out.
I found articles in which Migros assures me that no animal experiments are or have been carried out on products and raw materials from the i am line. Then a post saying that it cannot be ruled out that animal testing could be carried out. Then I found something saying that Migros condemns animal testing and actions that would lead to euthanasia. Then another report i am natural would be guaranteed without animal testing.
What can I believe? I found all the articles here on Migipedia.

Many thanks for an answer

Dear alexandra2771

Thank you for your message and I apologize that you had to wait a few days for my reply - I first had to ask internally what the exact situation is now.

It is true that Migros and Mibelle do not carry out any animal testing on the products we manufacture and do not have such tests carried out by third parties. However, some of the raw materials used were tested on animals as part of the approval process, because there are not alternative non-animal test methods for all cases.

In principle, Migros is committed wherever possible to ensuring that no tests are carried out on animals.

I hope this answer provides some clarity.

Kind regards

Hello PsychoactiveSushi, thank you for your contribution. Six years ago, when we gave this answer, the situation actually looked somewhat different. Since 2013, animal testing for cosmetic raw materials has been banned in Switzerland and the EU. However, many substances contained in cosmetic products were actually tested on animals, sometimes decades ago. This was never done by or on behalf of Migros or our own industry Mibelle. We have never carried out or commissioned animal testing on finished products. Kind regards, Angela
