Apple mint-golden melissa tea blend

Teemischung Apfelminze-Goldmelise

This tea blend is sold in plastic bags. However, it is known that these bags release microplastics and are not compostable. Can't they be filled in a more suitable material? I certainly don't buy them any more.

Hello Pirpiri1, thank you for your message. We understand your dissatisfaction and can well understand your question. We assume you are referring to the apple mint-golden balm tea from the region (https://produkte.migros.ch/aus-der-region-apfel-minzegoldmelisse). It is indeed the case that the tea bags give the impression that they are made of plastic. However, since 2017, the tea bags have been made from biodegradable polylactic acid (PLA) plastic. We recommend that you dispose of these bags via the municipal green waste collection (=industrial/professional composting). Of course, there are unbleached cellulose materials that decompose significantly faster in nature. Pyramid bag shapes would then unfortunately be impossible and the material could not be processed on our current filling plant. However, we would like to continue offering pyramid bags because this shape is ideal for swelling the extra-large leaf pieces. These bags give the herbs plenty of space and the water can flow around the leaves from all sides. This allows as many aromas as possible to be extracted from the herbal pieces and intensifies the tea experience. best regards, Chloe
