Lack of bread supply

Mangelnde Versorgung mit Brot

Guest

At Migros Witikon, it's an art to get hold of the bread you've been buying for 50 years. You can only find potato bread, German bread, spelt bread, all kinds of wholemeal, sometimes inedible (too hard) smoked bread.
You will search in vain for monastery bread, baguettes or other breads that were always in the range. When asked why these products are not available, the answer is "sold out". As a pensioner, I can go shopping at any time, so I try every day in the morning, around midday, in the afternoon or in the evening, but nothing - always sold out?
Monday is even worse. Migros looks like Moldavia. Empty shelves, if you can find anything (meat products), then it has today's expiry date. And this is in the afternoon. What are people doing all morning?
Perhaps the excuse is that the whole right bank of the lake as far as Bellevue shops here, as do people from Fällanden, Pfaffhausen, Binz, Zumikon and Zollikerberg. Why? They can't find a parking space at their Migros. We still have a parking garage. Has the "anti-car mania" already become a reality in the surrounding area? I thought only the city. It's clear that you can't do big shopping in Migros City. I'd rather go to Le store. At Migros, you'd have to carry several bags and possibly your child(ren) in overcrowded streetcars to get home. Mrs. Genner simply does it by bike. Her husband might get his supplies elsewhere. Or how does it actually work?

Hello Jirchua

I received the following feedback from the store manager at Migros Wiitkon:
On Monday, some of the meat doesn't look advantageous, we agree with you. Unfortunately, we don't receive any deliveries on Monday morning - that's why we can't replenish the range. The goods don't arrive until the afternoon. However, we always have a large selection at the counter as an alternative.

Unfortunately, some bread products have been removed from the range - including Kloster Brot and baguettes. A replacement product is planned soon. In addition, the range has shifted towards healthier bread. We try to satisfy as many wishes as possible. However, with such a large range of bread, this is not always easy.

We are sorry that your favorite breads have been affected by the restructuring.

I hope that you like the new types of bread that are coming soon and that you will find a suitable replacement.

Best regards
Tanja, Migipedia team

It's unfortunate as far as monastery bread is concerned, but it wasn't anything "traditional" and besides, in a neighborhood with a non-Christian population, monasteries can have a negative effect. But I don't see any religious reason for baguettes, nor any other reason. There have been baguettes ever since there have been cereals in Europe. These can be labeled "unhealthy" if you will, but the baker usually sells what people want. If we've already reached the point where we're being told what's healthy and what's unhealthy, what you can't eat and what you have to eat, maybe it's time to look around the world and see where you should emigrate to. I believe that Africa is slowly being emptied and if the Chinese make it flourish, I will make it either way. Thanks for the reply.

Dear Tanja, about the bread: the "healthy" breads are lying around, and other people are also looking for what they like. You can get potato bread in large quantities, but probably nobody wants that. And why make potato bread? Rye bread, Ruchbrot (with yeast!), Aelplerbrot (the current one is made from white flour) - we live in the Alps after all. You used to be able to buy Kommisbrot. Is it just too "military" for the GSoA fanatics?

Dear Acko: Komiss bread was originally the bread used by the military. It wasn't at all snowy and kept fresh for quite a long time. That's what it has in common with GSoA. But its supporters obviously have no idea about the military.

Thank God you don't stay with them forever.....
