Is this product really packed in a cardboard tray as shown in the picture and also wrapped in foil?

Hello Vualahastade, thank you for your inquiry. To protect the handcrafted masterpiece, the "artisanal" MegaStar are also packed in a cardboard tray. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

On the whole, your ice creams are good, even in comparison with BRAND ice creams (value for money). But on the other hand, my wife is T2DM (diabetic) & she has to give up ice creams which are ALL loaded with SUGAR & often average more than 20%! Why not create a range of ice creams (no doubt less tasty) but which could be partly suitable for people with T2DM or T1.

Hello Louis, in recent years, the principles governing the diet of diabetics have evolved considerably. Unlike in the past, diabetics no longer have to give up sugary foods entirely. As with all healthy eaters, sugar consumption should be kept to a minimum. A maximum of 10% of daily energy intake should come from sugar, which corresponds to around 50g. Sugar includes not only white (or granulated) sugar, but all added mono- and disaccharides (simple sugars or sugars composed of two monosaccharides), as well as natural sugars such as honey, syrups and fruit juices (also known as free sugars). The types of natural sugar contained in fruit, vegetables, milk, cereals, etc. are not included in this category. To ensure that blood sugar levels do not rise too quickly, sugar should preferably be consumed as part of a meal. Proteins, fats and dietary fibre have a slowing effect. Naturally, diabetics should count sugar as part of the carbohydrate allowance per meal. Sweetened beverages should also be avoided, to prevent blood sugar levels from rising too quickly. The small amounts of sugar present in processed products such as pickles, tomato sauce or meat products are negligible and should not be taken into account. In the case of diabetes coupled with excess weight, it should be remembered that sugar combined with fat is a real calorie bomb. The corresponding products (chocolate, ice cream, pastries, etc.) should therefore remain exceptions. Article 13 of the DFI Ordinance on Special Foods was abolished on 1.1.2014. Since January 1, 2015, it is definitely no longer possible to draw attention to products suitable for diabetics, made without sugar. We must therefore remove the specific logo and the indication ("suitable for diabetics") from the packaging of current foods for diabetics. This change in food law is justified by the fact that current recommendations for diabetics are virtually indistinguishable from those for the general population. With modern diets, specific foods for diabetics are considered superfluous. As an aid to diabetics, we will continue to maintain a list of (special) products that are particularly suitable for diabetics. M-Classic Light ice creams, which are particularly suitable for diabetics, are also included. Please find enclosed our information sheet on products for diabetics in the Migros range. The most up-to-date version is always available on the Migros website: https://www.migros.ch/fr/services/service-clientele/service-specialise-nutrition/fiches-information.html.
