My husband went shopping this morning, with Self scanning as usual. Today it was time for another random check. The person who did it apparently didn't know how. She started wrong and couldn't go back. Then she had to scan the entire purchase again and there was a difference to her own amount. Then the accusation that he had not scanned all the items. After a long wait and another check, it wasn't my husband's fault, but the employee had scanned four items twice. I then had to queue again at customer service and got the difference back with a voucher. I understand that checks have to be made, but not at great expense of time, which is what you want to avoid by scanning. An apology would also have been something.
