Packaging: Questions for those responsible at Migros

Verpackungen: Fragen an die Verantwortlichen der Migros

Hello,

My partner and I try to avoid disposable food packaging as much as possible. Unfortunately, at Migros this has so far only been possible for fruit and vegetables: here we bring our laundry bags, which works well for some products.

What really annoys us is that when we asked at the counter for open sales of meat and cheese, we were told that we are not allowed to bring meat or cheese in Tupperware, apparently for hygiene reasons.
We would like a statement on this from Migros. We would like to see customers' efforts to reduce waste supported and not boycotted.

Further questions and suggestions on the subject of packaging:

  • Why are there no more packaging-free lettuce heads like there used to be? Customers who can't do without their beloved plastic all around could still pack the salad in one of the "great" plastic bags for fruit and vegetables. But those who want their salad without plastic would at least have the option of doing so.
  • Why are organic cucumbers consistently sold in plastic packaging? As can be seen with conventional cucumbers, it would be perfectly possible without packaging. The cucumber already has a natural packaging, namely the skin!
  • Have concepts along the lines of the bulk stores that already exist in some neighboring countries been considered? Many foods, such as oatmeal, nuts, and sometimes pasta or rice, could be filled and weighed by the customer in the required quantity.
  • Are there plans to sell the collection bag for household waste(www.sammelsack.ch) in MIgros, which is already available in some places in the canton of Thurgau, for example?

Thank you very much for your comments.
