Hello dear migipedia team, many years ago there was a meat loaf in Migros that looked like a slice of meat loaf, about 1 cm thick with a thin layer of fat around it. Our family loved it and suddenly it was no longer available. Unfortunately! We still miss it - can't it be reintroduced?

It's funny: people from Vorarlberg come to us on the left bank of the Rhine to buy the wafer-thinly sliced delicatessen meatloaf because they find the Leberkäse too greasy and fattening and tastes like offal... ;-)
But there is another burger substitute that is really recommended and is available in a pork and chicken version (= chicken): ZACK-ZACK. It's not just minced meat, but real meat... in Migros so far only seen directly at the border with a fine marinade... but very expensive here - understandable....

Grandma always had it. At some point, unfortunately, the layer of fat around it was replaced by plastic. That was the end of the world for me!
In fact, I keep searching all possible Migros branches and even competitor stores for the former Leberkäse, which was still available in the early 1980s, presented in transparent vacuum packaging, in the company of Leberstreichwurst and the like. In the meantime, its existence is denied on the Internet: all possible and impossible interpretations and descriptions can be found for Leberkäse, except the one that fits my absolute favorite spread of the 60s and 70s. The Leberkäse I remember definitely had a liver component and was raw (not cooked, boiled or baked like Fleischkäse) and it was semi-hard, i.e. spreadable - but not as flaky as the contents of a Leberwurst or Mettwurst. The color was intense pink and of course with a 2 mm thick fat coating. There was no brand: Migros = Migros, the slices were probably packed in the vacuum bags by the local Migros butcher's. I would definitely buy my beloved Leberkäse regularly!!! People who don't know it don't know what they've missed. I haven't given up looking for it yet, dear Migrospedia. Hope dies last!

Dear Daniela Thank you so much for this great news! I live in Ticino and will take a trip to Austria when I get the chance and get myself a small supply. Thanks also for the photo; it's actually very similar to the Migros slice, which was square but otherwise identical. Of course I'm still hoping for a miracle, i.e. the return of this product in Switzerland. Best wishes Alice
