I was very disappointed when I bought St.Galler Biber last week and Guetzli today. I am 9 months pregnant and suddenly realized while snacking that these two products contain cherry. I had always thought that, at least with you, I wouldn't have to worry about whether there was alcohol in them. I think it's a shame that you're not made aware of this! Do I now always have to read what's in it before I buy it?
According to the"Culinary Heritage of Switzerland", the St. Gallen Biber has cherry or rum.
During Gottlieb Duttweiler's lifetime, Migros already had alcoholic foods such as cherry tarts and chocolates in its range. This is and has always been correct, as Migros' basic principle of not selling alcoholic beverages is laid down in its articles of association (Art. 3 c) with the cooperatives.

Our St. Galler Biber contains kirsch in the Biber filling, which is listed on the packaging in the list of ingredients. In Switzerland, there is no legal limit for ethanol content in food. Migros has voluntarily undertaken to indicate an ethanol content of over 0.5% transparently with the statement "Contains alcohol: not suitable for children". Baking the beaver causes some of the alcohol to evaporate, so that the content is below 0.5% and the label "Contains alcohol. Not suitable for children" can be dispensed with, and kirsch is added to round off the taste. It is a traditional component of the Fasnachtschüechli recipe. The alcohol is completely evaporated by the high temperature in the deep fryer. The products no longer contain any alcohol and can be enjoyed safely. If the products contained alcohol, this would have to be declared on the packaging.
